ORPHEUS - The Grecian Urn

To be immortal and then die
What we do now echoes in eternity

In the end, nothing is lost:
every event has effects forever
The greatest use of life is to spend it
for something that will outlast it

What I have done cannot be taken from me
Men are mortal, but ideas are immortal

I feel within myself
the power to immortalize at will
for not only I make the absent present
but also the dead almost alive

The insatiable thirst for everything which lies beyond,
and which life reveals,
is the most living proof of our immortality

Creative divinity!

Feed my body food and drink, it will survive today
Feed my soul art and music, it will live forever

Everything we see falls apart, vanishes
Nature is always the same,
but nothing in her that appears to us, lasts
I'll render the thrill of her permanence along with her elements

the appearance of all her changes
I'll give you the taste of her eternity
